EucharistWorship Council

Volunteers serve as a resource for preparing liturgies and other worship events. The commission membership is comprised of the Pastor, the parochial vicar, the deacons, and the Director of Liturgy and Music, as well as the leaders of the various liturgical ministries within the parish. Their main focus is to set standards in keeping with the Liturgy Documents of the Church that foster, “…full, conscious, and active participation” by Parishioners in the worship life of St. Patrick’s Parish.

Extraordinary Ministers

of Holy Communion (EMHC)

The Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the priest in the distribution of the precious Body and Blood of Christ. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age, be a practicing Catholic, have received the sacrament of confirmation, and, if married, had their marriage blessed by the church. Training sessions are offered throughout the year.

Sacristans

Sacristans are responsible for the set-up of Communion items before the Mass celebration (20 min. prior to the start of Mass), assisting during Communion and returning everything to its proper place after Mass (10 min.). Training Sessions are offered throughout the year.

Hospitality Ministers

Hospitality Ministers greet people entering the church in order to provide a friendly, welcoming environment. They assist worshipers in locating a seat during Mass, initiate the collection of gifts, and direct the flow of traffic during communion. Following Mass, they hand out the parish bulletin and tidy the worship space as needed. Youth are invited to participate. Training sessions are offered throughout the year.

Lectors/Commentators

Lectors proclaim the word of God at Mass. Two hour training sessions are offered throughout the year. Youth who have an understanding of the Holy Bible and who enjoy public speaking may become lectors. Commentators welcome the congregation, make announcements and begin the Mass.

Sound Ministry

Volunteers assist in setting up and operating the sound equipment during Masses, weddings, funerals, education sessions and other special occasions requiring sound support. Volunteers must possess working knowledge of complicated sound equipment and the ability to work closely with the music groups.

Altar Servers

Altar Servers assist the priest during Mass. Altar servers receive 1 ½ hours of training held three times each year, and usually serve at one Mass per month.

Altar Linen Care

Volunteers wash and press the small altar linens used at Mass.   A time commitment of 1 to 2 hours per month is required. Washing and care instructions are provided to volunteers of this ministry.

Environment Committee

Volunteers decorate the church for special seasons and liturgical celebrations, to glorify the Lord and to make the House of God as wonderful and as beautiful as possible. Youth may participate.

Ministry to the Sick and Homebound

Volunteers provide visits to people who are in the hospital or confined to home and offer them the Eucharist and a friendly visit. Volunteers must have completed training as and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Youth may accompany the minister and visit with the homebound person.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

This Ministry takes place every Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. This ministry maintains a sign-up sheet to assure someone is present throughout each hour of the day. Parishioners are encouraged to enrich their spiritual life by spending this special time in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.

Divine Mercy Prayer Devotions

Divine Mercy Devotion meets every Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Please come and join in prayer!  All are welcome.

Cursillo

Cursillo is a Thursday evening through Sunday retreat that provides discussions by clergy and laity on topics dealing with our faith, the sacraments, our role in the church, and how to live our faith in today’s world.
