Anxiety, Depression & Suicide
We are all aware that suicide and the issues that go with it are of great concern to our community. This is of great concern to our parish and youth ministry team at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
In an effort to provide awareness and education about this issue the St Patrick Youth Ministry team will be hosting Mr. Roy Petitfils, a licensed counselor at Pax Renewal Center in Lafayette, LA, on May 7th at 6:15 pm in our Sanctuary. Roy studied ministry and spirituality at The Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas and holds a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Louisiana. He has worked with youth and young adults for more than 20 years as a minister, a teacher, school administrator, school counselor and now as a counselor in private practice. He specializes in counseling teens and young adults. Roy regularly consults with churches, publishers and organizations helping them more effectively reach and minister to youth and young adults. He is an expert at raising and understanding teenagers.
Roy has published four books, including his most recent What Teens Want You to Know (But Don’t Tell You). Roy’s blue collar roots, natural humor, contagious enthusiasm and diverse personal background have made him an internationally sought after presenter and trainer. Roy lives with his wife Mindi of 13 years and their two sons Max and Benjamin in Youngsville, Louisiana.
The title of his presentation will be Tackling the Tough Topics: Anxiety, Depression, and Suicide. We would like to invite anyone who has been touched by these issues in any way… students, friends, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles…everyone to his presentation. He will be presenting valuable information we feel could be very helpful to them. There will be no charge for the event, but we will be taking up a no pressure free will offering to help defray the cost of hosting him.
Please feel free to contact Steve or Jackie in our youth ministry office with any questions or concerns you may have.
