A Letter to Our Confirmation Families

Dear Parish Families,

Welcome to the St Patrick Catholic Church Confirmation Program. I am excited to journey with you and your teen towards the Sacrament of Confirmation. In this registration packet you will read all about the Confirmation and Youth Ministry Program which St Patrick Catholic Church provides your teen, one that I hope will strengthen your entire family.

As you continue to minister to your family, your parish, and the community, I ask you to be especially faithful in these areas:

  • Attend Sunday Liturgy and Holy Days of Obligation.
  • Support a parish ministry with the gift of your time.
  • Be true to the Biblical call to tithe.

In addition to worshiping at St Patrick Catholic Church, your family has the opportunity to give your time, talent, and treasure to the many ministries this faith community has to offer. Opportunities to participate are not restricted to Youth Ministry or Confirmation, but include all parish ministries such as Adult Faith Formation, RCIA, and Food Pantry... to name but a few of the more than one hundred ministries offered here at St Patrick Catholic Church. It is your example that will have the greatest impact on the faith formation of your child!

In His Service,

Steve Schindler

What is One - Eight?

The name is taken from Acts 1:8 ~“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witness in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

One Eight is a curriculum that prepares teenagers to receive the Sacrament for Confirmation. It includes 20 sessions and a weekend retreat. It provides a practical, doctrinally sound, and experiential catechesis for the Sacrament of Confirmation. It is designed to help lead teenagers closer to Jesus Christ through His Church, while building their relationship with the Holy Spirit. Each session draws teenagers into the teachings of the Church, prepares their hearts for the Sacrament of Confirmation, and challenges them to grow in prayer.

One Eight utilizes experiential, relational, and systematic methods that engage teenagers in their faith while presenting doctrinally sound teachings, rooted in the Catechism and Sacred Scripture. Through engaging presentations of the faith, teenagers are invited into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and challenged to become life-long disciples.

One Eight is structured to follow the format of the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). This format provides opportunities for teenagers preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation to participate in several rituals modeled after those that occur during RCIA. These rituals and prayer experiences are meant to foster a deeper sense of belonging to the Catholic Church.

There is also a three-day retreat. It focuses on the seven virtues, and offers teenagers an opportunity to receive the Sacrament of reconciliation. Please see the schedule for these and other important dates.
